Meet the Mentors: Lois May

So, what exactly is RISE UP all about? RISE UP isn't just a charity; it's a lifeline for young people navigating through the complexities of life. As a volunteer youth mentor with RISE UP, I've had the incredible privilege of walking alongside these resilient individuals, offering guidance, encouragement, and a shoulder to lean on when times get tough.

With nearly three years in the recruitment industry, I've learned a thing or two about navigating the professional landscape. But what good is knowledge if it's not shared? That's why I'm passionate about RISE UP. It's about levelling the playing field, ensuring that every young person, regardless of their background or circumstances, has access to the tools they need to succeed.

Think about it - when were you taught how to craft a strong CV, ace a job interview, or even figure out which career path truly aligns with our aspirations? For many of us, it's not exactly part of the curriculum. Unfortunately, not everyone has a supportive home environment to guide them through these crucial steps. But through RISE UP, I've had the opportunity to share my expertise, helping these young individuals unlock their full potential and chart a course towards a brighter future.

Working with these young people has been nothing short of inspiring. They may not have had the highest grades or the most supportive environments, but their determination and resilience know no bounds. And it's that drive that fuels my dedication to RISE UP.

The many success stories I’ve played a part in are what makes being a RISE ambassador special. There’s nothing quite like receiving that phone call to tell you they’ve landed their dream job followed by a huge thank you. It’s a warm, fuzzy feeling that never gets old!

I believe that every young person deserves the chance to rise above their circumstances and soar. And with a little guidance and support, there's no limit to what they can achieve.

So, if you or someone you know is struggling to find their footing in the job market, don't hesitate to reach out.
